I’m interested in hiring a professional organizer, what’s the first step?
You can purchase any of my offerings on my services page. If you’d like to discuss which option is best for you give me a call or send a message. I’d love to hear more about your projects and organizational goals. There is never any cost to reaching out to discuss your organizational struggles.
Do you offer free consultations?
Initial phone calls and messages are always free. In-home consultations are for those serious about hiring a professional organizer to get things in order and maximize the use of the space in their home. During your in-home consultation we will discuss all of your organizing needs. You’ll walk me through your home’s problem areas and we’ll discuss your organizing goals. While at your home, I will measure each shelf, drawer, closet, and cabinet so that I can create a personalized organization plan and recommend the absolute best products for your spaces. All that measuring, space planning, and product research takes time, and I want to ensure that I can provide my clients with the best organizing systems for their needs. So while I may only be at your home for an hour, I spend many more hours perfecting your organizing plan. With your completed organizing plan, you have the resources to DIY your home organizing project if desired. Of course, you will also be given an estimate of service hours needed for The Spruced Home to complete your organizing project.
What areas do you service?
The Spruced Home is located in Illinois and provides in-home organizing services to the greater St. Louis area. Unsure if I’ll travel to your home, just send a quick message and ask! I also offer virtual sessions which is a great option for anyone who resides outside of my service area.
What if my house is the worst you’ve ever seen?
I’m quite certain it isn’t. :) This is a business that I chose for myself because I have a knack for space planning and I want to help get the most out of their home. Do not be ashamed of your home! And please, don’t pick up before our consultation. It actually helps me better plan your organization and designs if you show me the areas at their messiest. There is zero judgement and I will always respect your privacy.
Do you offer cleaning services?
Not at this time. However, during most home organizing projects everything is being removed from an area before sorting, organizing, and putting things back in place. While the space is clear, I always wipe down shelving and dust off items as I go. If you keep your vacuum handy, I’m also happy to run it over the area once finished. So no, I’m not cleaning your entire home, but I also won’t organize a shelf without first wiping it clean.
What if I don’t want to purchase the products recommended for my project?
Any products recommended have been chosen to best fit your needs and space, but you are not required to purchase any items. You have the freedom to take as many, or as few, of my recommendations as you wish. Ultimately, I will work with whatever materials you choose for a project. If you are trying to adhere to a budget, it’s helpful to let me know from the start. This helps me be more selective about the products I recommend, and, if needed, allows me to recommend the products that will give you the biggest bang for your buck.
Do I need to be home for my session?
No. Some clients prefer to work side by side with me and that’s great, but I understand that sometimes life gets in the way and it’s best to just give me access to your home. Whatever you prefer and best fits your schedule works for me. If possible, I will contact you with any questions. I will not get rid of items without your permission.
Will I be able to maintain the organization?
I always strive to implement solutions that work well for my clients and are simple to maintain. However, no one is perfect, life gets hectic, and your storage needs will change over time—those push toys will turn into smaller toys, like cars and legos, and before long those turn to electronic devices. In order to maintain order, occasionally, you’ll need to declutter and reset each space. Don’t be embarrassed to have me return to your home. I’m happy to come back and revisit areas of your home that are in need of attention. Subscription services are now available for those wishing to achieve and maintain an organized home.
Will you post pictures of my house on Facebook, Instagram, or your website?
The Spruced Home will never post photos of your space without your consent. I love to show off before and afters, but there is absolutely no pressure to give permission to use photos of your space. I will always respect your privacy.
On a related note, if you’d like to create your own social media posts to show off your newly organized space, please do so and feel free to tag The Spruced Home on your post. The biggest compliment I can receive is a client happy to show off my work or work I inspired them to do.
